NewsiT was founded by CEO Melinda Wittstock. Melinda is an entrepreneur, journalist, seasoned executive, and an evangelist on all things mobile, socially-networked, crowd-sourced, and ‘gamified’. She’s developed interactive websites and tools, driven ratings and traffic, created award-winning content, developed new models for news creation, managed teams large and small, sold content and advertising, and won awards for her print and broadcast journalism.
She’s also a mom.

Melinda has learned many things in her long journalistic career, and among the epiphanies: We trust information from trusted sources, we want relevant information, the more ‘eyes and ears’ on a story and the more transparent the sourcing the greater the likelihood of accuracy. Simply put (and this is hard for a journalist to admit) there’s more expertise and energy outside the newsroom than in it.
Melinda thrives on putting the seemingly impossible into practice, and she’s done just that across traditional and social media. At 22 she was busy breaking big stories as a business reporter and then media correspondent of the Times of London, and never looked back - anchoring and producing for BBC World TV, Financial Times/CNBC Europe and ABC World News Now, among others - before launching her first company, Capitol News Connection, an award-winning independent production company supplying public radio stations, TV outlets and newspapers with ‘localized’ news from Congress.
Her grandmother was the first to tell her she was “disruptive” at age 5 when her first business landed its first $100. Her kids Sydney (9) and Finn (6), opinionated golden retriever Josie (3), and husband Mark provide daily inspiration.

Chief Technology Officer
Craig is a 15 year veteran of web technology and brings deep product development and strategy to the NewsiT team. Craig excels at building and running technical teams, managing full lifecycle product development, providing hands on development and user experience design, and providing pragmatic leadership and direction in lean/agile development methodologies.
Craig began developing web-based applications while in college and has been a founder of multiple startups, and has also worked for and consulted with dozens of firms small to large.
Craig earned his Bachelor of Science in Information Management and Technology from Syracuse University.

VP Revenue & Business Development
Matt is a 20-year media veteran and leading expert in digital advertising, social media and technology, and has been a contributor to the growth of online and mobile advertising since its commercial inception in the early 1990s and has sold or managed teams selling a total of $2.5 billion in digital and mobile advertising revenue in the past 13 years. His career spans Sesame Workshop, Hulu, NBC, CNET and AOL, where he lead a 160-person sales team in account management and handled $1 billion in sales revenue.
He drove many company-wide global business operations initiatives, improving process, systems, policies and structure across product, delivery, traffic, finance, legal and sales. The AOL sales team was awarded the #1 raking for quality sales by more than 200 agency and advertising executives in 2009. Matt was also SVP, Media and Data Solutions for [x+1], a leading digital marketing firm specializing in audience targeting, analytics and website optimization.
Matt has managed six different regional and national sales teams, consulted for more than 30 companies and founded four others. At NewsiT Matt focuses on identifying revenue opportunities, crafting ‘win-win’ collaborative relationships with content and other partners, and identifying key sponsors and advertising networks.

Bruce Potter oversees editorial operations and outreach at NewsiT. He is always looking for that exciting story thread that matters most to NewsiT users – and making sure they know about it. He juggles editorial priorities – what's breaking, what's on news agenda, what are the hot issues you want to know about. He engages and collaborates with local and national organizations and media partners, managing and producing content. Did we mention he constantly updates NewsiT.net and our iPhone app?
Bruce has had news in his blood since he was a pre-teen publishing the hyper-hyper-local "Potter Press." He was an editor of his middle-school, high-school and college newspapers and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Washington and Lee University.
After college, he wrote obituaries for The Richmond (Va.) News Leader but quickly graduated to other assignments, eventually covering state politics and the Virginia General Assembly. The News Leader was later merged into the Richmond Times-Dispatch, and Bruce worked for seven years on the business and sports news desks. In 1999, he was promoted to the parent company, Media General, where he got his introduction into the digital world, leading the development and implementation of an online content-sharing network.
Bruce eventually became the top news executive for the Publishing Division, where he created and ran the company's first journalism awards program and oversaw the Washington Bureau, including coverage of the 2000 political conventions and presidential election. He then became publisher of The News Virginian in Waynesboro, Va., and group publisher for Media General's newspapers and web sites in Northern Virginia. In the latter role, he led one of the company's most successful and fastest growing digital operations and created several new products, including a monthly business magazine.
In addition to his undergraduate degree, Bruce has an MBA from University of Richmond. When not chasing stories and partners for NewsiT, Bruce can often be found searching for stray golf balls in the woods or following his 10-year-old son around a model train show.
